Frequently asked questions
Everything players usually ask us before taking on our escape room in Barcelona. Still unsure about something? Message us on WhatsApp and we will get back to you.
The game
What is an escape room and how does it work at The Rombo Code Barcelona?
It is a live escape game: your team enters a themed room and has 60 minutes to solve the puzzles that let you complete the mission. No previous experience or physical fitness is needed — you play using logic, observation, communication and teamwork. A game master follows your game from start to finish and gives you hints whenever you need them.
What is Rombate mode?
Rombate mode pits two teams against each other, playing at the same time in rooms with the same storyline. Both solve the same puzzles and race to finish first, with moments where one team can affect the other. It is the best option for groups of 6 or more and for company events, because everyone plays at once and then shares the experience afterwards.
How many escape rooms do you have in Barcelona?
At our venue on Calle Padilla 353, next to Sant Pau Hospital and ten minutes from the Sagrada Familia, we have rooms with our own original storylines plus twin rooms that make Rombate mode possible. You can see every available storyline and its difficulty on the games page.
Which game should we start with if it is our first time?
La Fuga de Casanova is the best choice for beginners: the mechanics click quickly and the difficulty builds gradually. Tras el Espejo is designed for players who have done escape rooms before and want more of a challenge. Each game page shows its difficulty out of 10 and the recommended number of players.
Are the games your own design?
Yes. Every storyline is designed in-house by The Rombo Code and cannot be played at any escape room outside the brand.
Groups
How many players work best per room?
Rooms take 2 to 6 players. Four is usually the sweet spot: there are enough puzzles for everyone to take part without anyone standing around watching. With two people the challenge is considerably harder, which is exactly why it works so well as a plan for couples.
We are a large group — can we all play at the same time?
Yes. From 6 people onwards we recommend booking two rooms and playing in Rombate mode so nobody waits outside. For groups of 13 or more, and for company events, schools or stag and hen parties, we run several slots and rooms in parallel: get in touch and we will put together a tailored plan.
Do you run escape rooms for companies and team building?
Yes, it is one of the things we do most. The room forces people to split roles, communicate under pressure and decide with incomplete information — exactly what a team-building exercise is meant to surface. We have large common areas to welcome the group and talk through the experience afterwards.
Can children play?
Yes. We run family and school sessions, adapting the hints to the age of the group. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Tell us the ages when you book and we will adjust the experience.
Booking
How do I book?
Booking is done online on this site: pick your game, then an available day and time, and confirm. If you would rather ask questions first or need a special setup, message us on WhatsApp at +34 640 162 394.
Can I gift an escape room?
Yes. We have a gift card that can be redeemed for any of our Barcelona rooms. It is a popular birthday and Christmas present, and whoever receives it chooses the game and date afterwards.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Yes, by contacting us far enough in advance via WhatsApp, phone or email. The earlier you let us know, the easier it is to move your game to another slot.
Before you come
How long does the whole experience take?
The game itself lasts 60 minutes, but allow around 90 in total: welcome and rules before you go in, and time afterwards in the common areas to talk through the game and take your team photo.
How early should we arrive?
We recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your booked time. Games start on schedule because another group may be booked right after you, so arriving late cuts into your playing time.
Where are you and how do we get there?
We are at Calle Padilla 353, 08025 Barcelona, next to the Sant Pau Modernist Site and about ten minutes' walk from the Sagrada Familia. The area is well served by metro and bus.
Do we need to be fit, or is it scary?
No. There are no physical challenges and no actors jumping out at you. Our rooms are solved by thinking, looking closely and talking to each other. They are suitable for anyone, with or without experience.
